Apathetic, that’s what singaporean have been called, when it comes to politicial.
Since our ah ma generation, we have been ‘spoon-fed’ by the Gov.
Gov says, singaporean do.
Practically, we have no much of an opinion, cos even if we have, we know it’s really kinda pointless.
Maybe there’s why people always says ‘Singaporean only know how to complain’.
During this year election, the first time that social media was allowed to be used, I realised Singaporean are not apathetic.

We have a voice.
We care thats why we do the things we do.
People attended rallys, people commented on fb, twitters n websites and people read the news.
However, sadly to say, the local papers are mostly propaganda tools of the gov.

For example, TNP (The New Paper) can waste 2 whole pages just to cover the daily routine of TPL, citing how gd she is as a person, a friend, and a politician, hoping that peoples’ impression of her will change.
Seriously, i dont need to and have no intention of knowing her daily routine (like for fuck when i dont even stalk david beckham routine?)
Strictly speaking, if she’s from the opposition, would TNP care to do a good report on her?
There are many more examples which i can go on and on but Of course i know, we cant blame it fully on the papers cos at the end of the day, they are still under the control of our gov.
The cyber space was the place where we got a alternate voice and opionion about the same issue, and maybe that’s also one of the reasons why the oppositions votes increased.

On saturday, i went to attend Worker’s Party gathering for the results. Other than the time when i took part in the NDP performance in 1999, Yesterday was the time when i felt Singaporean, once again.

What sparks me to attend rally was this pic (and maybe also cos its walking dist from my house HAHa).

This was the first rally of WP, at an open field in Hougang. never in my life would i imagine having this amount of people on that tiny piece of land. So i tot to myself, maybe there’s really sth to it. Maybe i should go attend one too. However because of work commitment and they started at 7, i didnt make it to any and it was until i saw another link posted on fb by The Online Citizen (TOC), that i decided ok, i got to attend it somehow to feel it.

And so i went, i experienced, i was touched and was definitely glad i was there.
By how suddenly Singapore has become one, everyone on the field yesterday was smiling to one another, having the same belief, regardless of race and religion.
Maybe because i Dont feel singapore most of the time at work.
95% of my colleagues are foreigners, and the 5% of singaporean are always so stressed up we hardly talk n smile. Dont get me wrong, my foreign colleagues are nice people and i do like them but u know, sometimes i just wish i can have people of my country, afterall im in singapore arent i?

N There’s this one old uncle, sitting beside us, who was around the age of 60 plus 70.
During the gathering, he went out to buy drink for himself and when he came back, he came back with a bag of bottled soft drinks, maybe around 5-7 bottles.
After opening a bottle of 100 plus for himself (yes uncle very strong 60 plus still drink soft drink), he started distributing the remaining drinks to us.
We dont know the uncle.
He has no obligation to do this, AT ALL.
It was a freaking hot nite yesterday and the drink seems like water in desert (ok mb i exaggerated).
I was deeply touched by this act of kindness.
maybe because in today’s society, with the over populated situation, everyone is too angst to really care about people besides u (Im guilty as charged).
These little acts of kindness seems to be long forgotten.

OK anyway back to topic.
When Wp won hougang and aljunied, everyone cheers.
Everyone cheers cos we know more voices can be heard by the gov.
We are no ungrateful brats like how some foreigners have commented.
I know how the PAP has played a part in building singapore to such a beautiful and safe island, an island that most people can be proud of.
Despite having no natural resources and occasion threats from our neighbouring country of nt selling water to us, we managed to survive and find our own source and ways.
I know its all the work of Mr Lee and his team of players.
Without them, there wont be SINgapore.

That’s why i find it totally ridiculous when people compare nicole seah FB likes with LKY. Just like you dont compare mother theresa to LKY, or david beckham.
Btw davide beckham has 9,938,661 likes (lol). =D
People like nicole seah cos we found our voices in her.
because she faces the problems we face and highlighted them instead of hiding them and pretending everything’s ok like u know who.

Afterall Raffles was the one who founded singapore.
So Seriously u cant use FB likes for respect and gratitude.

I dont expect and certainly dont want all the seats in parliaments to be of opposition cos afterall, PAP is here for a reason. Those who voted for opposition have only one thought, which is just to introduce voices into the gov, so that the Singaporean voices can be heard because honestly speaking, Singapore is getting a little off track.

I remembered there was once when i was on the tram with mich to sentosa and we realised we were the only singaporean in the tram.
Maybe one can argue that thats normal cos sentosa is a tourist spot.
ok den, what about my company?
What about the crowd in the train?
Take a count next time when u are on the train during the weekend.
count the no of singaporean in one row of the seat.
I did that on friday nite (for both rows somemore) and my result was half of them were foreigners.
Something is wrong.
Im not saying we dont need foreign talents, of cos we need, bt there should also be a limit to it.
Instead of importing more talents, groom your own!
Let more singaporean have the opportunity to study.

Asking for priority to be given to citizens of its country is not too much of a request actually.

Im really enlighten by the bravery and courage the aljunied residents have shown. Despite egoist threats that we will regret and repent if we choose the opposition, they made the decision they think is right.
Im not under WP lead in the past so i dont know much about them but from articles that i have read, personal experiences by citizens, i believed the WP is a compassionate grp with a heart, to serve.
At least They wont point fingers if they were to lost.

I dont know how much truth there is to this article but i really think its kinda unreasonable to deny a decent office for someone who served singapore whole heartedly for 27 years.
I respect this man after all the stories that i have read.

To sum it up, This year GE make me lose and gain respect for people from the respective parties.
The difference btw the ruling party and the opposition is the sincerity.
The way they speak.
One with passion, the other like automatic answering machine.
It will eventually shows up with ur actions and ur words.
You cant fake it or hide it.

Sometimes i cant help but have this visual in my mind.
One is like hell, attracting you with all the attractive stuffs, temptations n big promises at first, only to reveal their ugly sides after you are in it.
On the other hand, heaven seems quiet. They have nothing attractive for you, no nice houses, nth much. But deep down in your heart, you know, that’s the place you should go.
But sometimes, people tend to forget to listen to their inner voice and got tempted by the temptations.
We shall see if we can turn hell into heaven.
I certainly hope we can.
After the 2 weeks of excitement and passion, it’s back to life.

N in case you’re wondering, i voted for the ruling party.
Im pro-opposition, but when the opposition in my area seriously cannot make it, i wont vote blindly.
Emotional i am, but definitely not irrational.

1. Kena scolded for nth.
Im still very pissed and demoralised over it bt i thank God for frens and colleagues who i can turn to.
At least my anger is being let off and shared.

2. Ham ham Died.
I nv cry like i tot i would but i experienced a very strange feeling when i buried him on Friday.
It was my first so called pet (cos u dont really count fish as pet cos u cant touch them n u dont really feel anything when they die) cos my mom dont allow us to keep pets when we were young.

I said a little prayer for him when i buried him.
He was a gd hamster.
Ham ji but behaves like a dog (cos he was placed next to the door), always welcoming us and extorting food from us when he ‘heard’ us back.
He was gone before i could bid a last gd bye to him bt at least he left peacefully.
We could c that he’s abit abnormal a few days before but My mama kept telling him not to die before the 15th days of CNY and i dont know if its a coincidence, he really died the day after the 15th.

It was really great catching up with all the cousins, and just going back to a simpler and slower pace life.

I’m still trying to get over the blue-ness.
LNY holidays should be for 15 days.
Damn.

Remote town it is, it contains lots of memory.
I think my happiest collection of memory for CNY is there.
When we were young, all the aunties and uncles will go back every CNY and its so crowded we have to separate into batches for dinner.
After dinner, the adults will do their offerings to the deities and the kids will play with another, playing with lots of firecrackers.
I still rem thats one yr when my uncle let me drive his bike with him sitting at the back.
After that ride, i caught a cold, had a terrible CNYand that was the last time. Lol.
I dont know when the custom of going back stopped (maybe after my ah ma passed away).

Those were the days.
I know things are different now cos every one have grown up bt still, memories cannot be replaced. =)
